CalmCart ("the app", "we", "us") is a supermarket price comparison and specials tracking app operated by Zihnova ("the operator"). This policy explains what information CalmCart collects, why, and what control you have over it. It applies to the CalmCart mobile application and the APIs behind it, published from zihnova.com.
The short version: we do not sell your data, we do not use advertising trackers, and our core price comparison features are fully usable without an account.
1. What we collect
Information you give us
- Account information (optional). If you choose to sign in to sync your shopping list across devices, our authentication provider (Clerk) collects your email address, your name if provided, and basic profile information if you sign in with Google or Apple. CalmCart never sees or stores your password.
- Shopping lists and starred items. When you star products or add items to your shopping list, this data is saved locally on your device (and securely synced to your account if signed in).
- Barcode camera access. If you use the in-store barcode scanner, the app uses your camera locally to detect the barcode number. Camera frames are processed on-device and are never uploaded or stored.
Information created by using the app
- Push notification tokens (optional). If you enable price-drop notifications on starred items, a device push token is stored to send you relevant alerts.
- Crash diagnostics. We use Firebase Crashlytics to catch bugs and improve stability. Crash reports contain technical stack traces and anonymous device metadata (operating system version, device model) with no personally identifiable data.
- Basic server logs. Standard server logs (IP address, requested product IDs, timestamps) for rate limiting, security, and caching.
What we deliberately do NOT collect
- No payment card or bank account credentials.
- No advertising identifiers (IDFA/GAID) or third-party ad networks.
- No location tracking or background location access.
- No contact list or address book access.
2. How we use your information
- To compare product prices and verify specials across Coles, Woolworths, ALDI, Chemist Warehouse, and Priceline.
- To sync your shopping lists and starred items across your devices.
- To send price drop alerts that you have explicitly enabled.
- To diagnose application errors and maintain system security.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data with any third parties.

4. Data retention and deletion
- Local data: You can clear your search history, shopping lists, and starred items directly in the app at any time.
- Account deletion: You can permanently delete your account at any time in Settings → Session → Delete account, or by visiting our Account Deletion Page. All account records are permanently removed immediately.
5. Retailer independence & trademarks
CalmCart is an independent price comparison tool. Coles, Woolworths, ALDI, Chemist Warehouse, and Priceline are trademarks of their respective owners. CalmCart is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any of these retailers.
